Eleanor is a registered professional Librarian with 40 years of experience working in public, education and corporate libraries around the world. Beginning as a Library Advisor to schools with the National Library of New Zealand, her career has included being a library consultant to an English-medium boarding school in India, setting up a library for an oil company in the Middle East, and oversight of a special collection of books on Christianity for public libraries in the London region.
Eleanor has served on the selection panel for the Esther Glen Award, and as a trustee of a school board. She was part of the Working Group for Formulating the Policy for National Library Services to Children, New Zealand, and assisted with developing the library curriculum for primary schools in Papua New Guinea. Eleanor is currently Overseas Secretary and member of the Executive Committee of the Christians in Library & Information Services (U.K.). Her membership of the Library and Information Association of New Zealand Aotearoa includes the Tertiary Libraries Special Interest Group.
While in the United Kingdom Eleanor was a trustee of the Families in British India Society, and now serves as New Zealand Liaison for this family history research group. She has a particular interest in storytelling and writing for young children.
Bringing a passion for knowledge creation and fostering intellectual curiosity to her role as the EDENZ Librarian, Eleanor is also a member of the EDENZ Colleges Academic Board.
