Jonathan Zsofi-Guy is a Film lecturer here at EDENZ. An up and coming NZ Director, he has been influenced by antiquity and all films fantastical. With an top honours degree in film; emphasizing direction, and media dehumanization analysis, Jonathan has gone on to direct films & music videos in the USA, Africa and New Zealand. Originally working for studios in both the USA and NZ he is now fully freelancing in NZ and manages the Film Academy with Iain McKenzie.
His latest work ‘Hadir and The Deep’ a fantasy drama set in ancient Iraq; gained numerous awards and nominations in festivals across the USA. When not working on North American commercials and music videos, he spends his time with his team developing the new gritty Tower of Babel/LOTR mashup; ‘Mark of the Ouroboros’ and his feature ‘Gates of Jerusalem’ set in the streets of 66A.D Jerusalem.
His films speak of a joie de vivre amidst dark and historical epochs. Combining a background in directing with editing and linguistics; his works form a compelling oeuvre.
